Billboard is the most authoritative American magazine that dates back to 1894. Since the time Billboard began to make musical charts in 1936, it became an integral part of the world of music. Moreover, and today it is the most popular and most basic rating chart for new music releases. His current title chart was obtained in 1958 when from the method of counting the popularity were turned off the rotation on radio stations and playback on music devices.

Today, we will focus our attention on that certain period in music, when the most noticeable changes took place, namely the 60's. And what else will help us to collect all these songs, if not Billboard Hot 100? But before listening to them, let's have some information about those times.

The seeds that germinated in the U.S. in the 1950s by popular music, namely by rock 'n' roll, began to grow vigorously. The American rock and roll of the 1950s gave a strong impetus to the development of rock music, becoming an inspiration for groups that emerged in the early 1960s, such as The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Animals, The Troggs. Thereafter, the term "British invasion" appeared, as the was impregnation of the popular British musical culture to the territory of the United States. The beginning of this phenomenon is considered the "landing" of The Beatles on the American coast in February 1964.

Further, other British groups became more popular: the main The Beatles rivals - The Rolling Stones, The Kinks, The Animals, The Yardbirds. In the wake of the popularity of these groups, musical life around the world began to intensify rapidly.

The golden age of music was the second half of the 1960's - the period of "human warming", which was marked by the creation of many musical groups, the movement of hippies in America and the youth revolution in Europe. It was a time of rejection of social values and clichés, a vivid example of which are more experimental, psychedelic and non-standard musical compositions, so there were significant changes in the appearance and behavior of rock musicians. For example, the Beatles, who originally wore neat hairstyles and costumes, later raised long hair, mustache, and beard, and began to wear carnival costumes and hippie clothing. Eventually, the music of rock groups went beyond the former framework and began to develop freely in different directions.

Psychedelics, especially LSD and mescaline, provided the strong influence on the changes in music as well as marijuana, actively used by many rock musicians. In the mid-1960s, in California on a wave of psychedelic spread a new direction of rock music was emerging psychedelic rock. This music took on its base of blues-rock, North American folk rock and brought it a vivid expression, characterized by recognizable sound, elongated solo instruments and more.

By the end of the 1960s, such rock-legends whose music was somewhat fascinatingly hypnotic as The Doors, Jimi Hendrix, Grateful Dead and Jefferson Airplane appeared in the U.S. The apogee of the American psychedelic of the late 1960s and rock music in general was the legendary Woodstock Festival (which began August 15, 1969) - "Three Days of Peace and Music."
