The Creepiest Album Covers of All Time

In this day and age, the music world is somewhat over saturated. With the emergence of a slew of an artist finding fame on the internet new music is constantly being pumped out. At times it can be hard for a musician to hold an audience for long. This is where the visual aspect comes into play.

We have currently seen more artist accompany their album with videos like Beyoncé’s lemonade but in an earlier time, this wasn’t the most popular option. Sometimes to sell a record an artist needs to not only catch the ear of their fans but also the eye. So from the old school vinyl to CD’s and beyond here are five of the creepiest album covers.

Top-5 Freaky Album Covers

First off is Peter Gabriel’s III. It is essentially a head shot where half of the pictures face looks like it’s being melted. Maybe the creepiest thing is that neither Thorgerson who created the image or Gabriel himself can remember who manipulated the picture.

Last on the list is the Detroit-based hip-hop group called Twizted. They dropped an album called Freek show in 2000 and the album cover did not disappoint. A head that seemed poorly stitched together with white eyed pupils will always be an attention grabber. It also happens to be the Twiztid’s best-selling album to date.

Overall it’s safe to say that although the music will always be the foundation of the album, the artwork depicted is at the forefront of it all.
