Top-5 Guitarists of All Time

There are others who have left their mark on the guitar but these five may very well be the greatest of all time.

The guitar. From its alluring potential to bring ones dreams of rock and roll fame to a reality to simply and instantly making you the dreamy soulful guy or girl on campus, it has been something that people of all shapes, sizes and musical tastes have been drawn towards. It is easily one of, if not the most popular and exciting instrument of all time but, of course like anything else in the world someone had to put it on the map. Someone had to learn the ins and outs of the instrument. Over the years there have been plenty to do just that but there are only a few who have mastered it in. In this article we look at the top five guitarist of all time.

Number five on the list is Jeff Beck. If you’ve heard any of his tracks like Freeway Jam, A Day in the Life or Heart Full of Soul you would know he is fully deserving of being on this list. He had an edgy yet melodic style and his call and response theatrics with the vocalist was something to behold.

Number four on the list is Keith Richards. A member of the legendary rolling stones, it’s hard to find something to say about him that hasn’t been told already. When Satisfaction came out it was a revolutionary track. Gimme Shelter’s dark, moody rhythm and vibrato was an extremely impactful expression of the guitar that at the time was unlike anything else. He was simply put, a corner stone of the Rolling Stones and very few will ever be as great as him.

Third on the list is the great Jimmy Page. Led Zeppelin is one of the most popular rock bands in the world and Jimmy was the lead guitarist and founder. His resume is extensive and some of his most masterful pieces of art are Dazed and Confused, Heartbreaker and Kashmir.

Second is Eric Clapton. This UK born guitarist is the only individual to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of fame three times. He had some of the most influential and melodious solos of anyone on this list. His style and vibe could be considered more simplistic than some of the of other names on the list yet his impact on the music world is not debatable.

Rounding out the list is the legendary Jimi Hendrix. The way he commanded the stage and crowd was unmatched. He was an inspiration to millions and the way he manipulated the guitar as if it could express his soul will never be replicated. If you haven’t heard the late Jimi Hendrix the songs Purple Haze, Foxy Lady and Hey Joe are some of his greatest art.
