Top-10 Best Selling Artists of All Time

The music industry is one of the hardest industries to get into, it is even more difficult as years pass by to consistently capture an audience and have them buy your music in a world where piracy runs rampant. Yet somehow these artists managed to not only past the test of time but also have their music stay relevant across generations.

Here are the top-10 best-selling artist of all times.

Number 10 on the list is the only Canadian, Celine Dion with 125 million units sold. She is the only female artist with two singles selling more than a million copies in the United Kingdom. This is pretty impressive considering that her career started from a Eurovision song contest.

Number 9 on the list is famous for her pristine voice and diva personality, Mariah Carey. She has sold 130 million units. Commercially she was a huge success and in 1990 she was the best-selling recording artist. She is also known for the incredibly famous song “All I Want for Christmas is You”.

Eagles hold the 8th spot with a little bit over 130 million units sold. In 7th is the iconic band Led Zeppelin with 140 million units sold. The English band was formed in 1968 and still has a huge influence on rock till this day. In 6th place is the country singer Garth Brooks with 145 million units sold. According to RIAA he has the most diamond albums as a solo artist. Six of them accumulated sales of over 10 million copies.

Number 5 on the list is is the legendary Elton John with 162 million units sold. He has what is considered to be one of the best-selling singles of all time in the rewritten version of ‘Candle in the Wild’ which was done in celebration of the life of Princess Diana. Number four is Madonna with 166 million units sold. She had a huge impact on music in her prime and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Michael Jackson holds the 3rd spot on the list with 175 million units sold. The King of Pop was arguably one of the most influential artist of all time. From his youth in the Jackson 5 right up to his untimely death he was easily one of the most entertaining and loved individuals around the world.

The second on the list is the late Elvis Presley with 210 million units sold. Elvis has more gold, platinum and multi-platinum awards than any other solo artist in the history of the music industry, he arguably also had the best dance moves.

Last but not least, in the number one spot is The Beatles with 265 million units sold. There isn’t much to be said about them that hasn’t been already but the English rock band is one of the few artists that have that uncanny ability to capture the masses through time its self and we may never see anything like it again.
